1. Sowing time
Cornflower can be sown in spring or autumn. Its flowering period is from February to August, but it is difficult to bloom in the year of spring sowing, so cornflower is more suitable for planting around September in autumn. Choose healthy, plump seeds.
2. Prepare the potting soil
First prepare suitable potting soil. The size of the flowerpot is determined according to the number of seeds sown. The more seeds you sown, the larger the flowerpot will naturally be. For the soil, it is best to choose a fertile, loose sandy soil with good drainage and ventilation, which is more conducive to germination and growth.
3. Reasonable sowing
After planting the seeds on the soil, spread some thin soil to cover the seeds until the seeds are no longer visible, then compact the soil slightly and water enough to allow the water to drain from the bottom of the pot.
4. Conservation and germination
After sowing, move the potting soil to a place where the sun is scattered and ventilated for maintenance. It is necessary to observe and keep the soil moist frequently, and it will be able to germinate in about 1 to 2 weeks. After the seedlings are formed, thin fertilizers, mainly nitrogen fertilizers, can be applied every two weeks. Wait until March of the second year to bloom. Knowing how to plant cornflower seeds, you should also be careful when maintaining them.
The growth of cornflowers needs sufficient water. In spring and autumn, it can be watered once every 3 to 4 days; in summer, the temperature is high and the amount of water evaporation is large. Spray water on the plant to keep it moisturizing; in winter, it is generally watered once every 1 to 2 weeks, and it is better to keep the potting soil a little dry.
2. Sufficient light
Cornflowers need plenty of light to grow, and they should be moved outside frequently to receive light. Otherwise, it will cause the plant to grow too long without seeing flowers. In summer, the strong light should be properly shaded, and in winter, the indoor sunny place should be filled with light.
